About Me
My own journey has been a continuous cycle of learning, unlearning, and understanding myself better.
My name is Sabine Haeran van Ameijden and I am Korean-Dutch. I was born in Paris, grew up in the Netherlands, and spent much of my adult life living and working globally across different cultures, including South Korea, the UK, the US, and Mozambique. I am currently based between South Korea and the Netherlands.
Growing up with a mixed ethnic and cultural background, I had a lot of questions about identity and belonging. Over time, my understanding of these concepts expanded far beyond geography or ethnic heritage. I have come to understand identity as something multifaceted and much more interesting and expansive than societal labels. Belonging has become less about being externally validated and more about moments in life where we feel truly seen and heard.
I have always found myself fascinated by what makes people tick, how they make decisions in life, and how experiences make them feel. This curiosity about human nature has drawn me toward exploring how we can better understand ourselves and how we connect with one another.
To understand the world better and to bridge different cultures and countries, my professional path started in the world of government, NGOs, think tanks, international policy making, and diplomacy. I was young, ambitious, and determined to be a systemic changemaker. I learned a lot, recognised the limitations of my influence, and eventually felt too much like a cog in the machine. Internally, I experienced what it is like to push hard, live more in your head than in your body, and pursue a sense of duty and responsibility until you run out of fuel.
Stepping away from that world brought the heartbreak of realising my first career was not a good fit, but it also forced me to start doing my own inner work. With the support of therapy, coaching, and somatic practices, I started to build a more grounded and compassionate relationship with myself.
Yet, it was navigating cycles of depression, anxiety, and burnout that asked me to take this work even further. These mental health challenges are a humbling teacher, forcing me to reorganise how I live, recognise what is truly mine to carry, and allowing me to meet the struggles of others with deep empathy.
Becoming trained, certified, and stepping into the roles of coach, leadership facilitator, and yoga instructor has allowed me to lean into my intuition, hold a clear and ethical structure, and work with clients on some of life's most interesting questions about purpose, wellbeing, and relationships.
More recently, I have met the call to dive deeper into ancient Asian wisdom traditions. This has opened up an exciting exploration of Qigong, Taichi, Korean martial arts, Taoism, and Buddhism. I am learning more through the body and less through the mind, how to move through life with less force and more presence, and how to want without wanting.
Ultimately, this journey so far has allowed me to become more connected to myself, in tune with my needs, and able to hold clearer boundaries. From this place, it becomes much easier to connect with others, find balance, and access a sense of joy and aliveness.
This evolution has shaped who I am today as a professional. I have grown into a coach and facilitator who holds space for others to simply be, explore, process, and find their own answers at their own pace.
